The Kuipers Family

Our Story

Kuipers Pumpkin Farm opened to the public in the Fall of 1998.

In the mid-1990’s, Wade and Kim Kuipers, hoping to return to Wade’s farming roots, purchased a 71 acre farm across the road from an existing apple orchard. After finding themselves enjoying annual family outings to local pumpkin farms, Wade & Kim decided they would transform their little property into a small pumpkin farm of their own while raising their three children.

Their vision was a place where people could connect with a real farm while making memories together. With a pumpkin patch, tractor ride, strawbale maze, a few goats, and tent, Kuipers Pumpkin Farm opened to the public in the Fall of 1998.

As the little fall happening grew, the Kuipers purchased the existing 160 acre apple orchard across the road, known previously as Pine-Apple Orchard, and renamed the now 230 acres to Kuipers Family Farm.

After several large additions to the Orchard Shop, thousands of apples trees planted, and many new attractions added, the farm had become a premier Fall destination to thousands of annual guests.

20+ Years Later

Wade and Kim now operate the farm with their sons, and their little team is expanding year-by-year. While the little fall happening has changed quite a bit, they have tried to remain true to their original vision of offering a farm experience to their customers that is as close to what you might really find on a Midwest farm as you can get without having to get dirty.

It is their hope that their farm will continue to fulfill its mission of connecting people to agriculture and each other for generations to come.
